How to maintain Truck’s DEF system

How to maintain Truck's DEF system? One of the important components of the truck emission control system is the Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) system. Regular maintenance on it is important to ensure it runs efficiently. Below are some steps drivers can take to maintain their truck DEF system:

1. Only use high quality DEF:

Truck drivers should only use DEF that is ISO 22241 compliant and certified by the American Petroleum Institute (API). If a DEF that does not meet these specifications is used, your DEF system could be severely damaged and costly to repair.

2. Store DEF properly:

DEF is an extremely sensitive commodity. It has particularly sensitive properties to heat, moisture, and sunlight. Therefore, storing DEF in a cool, dry place is extremely important for it to maintain its quality. DEF should be stored in special containers to ensure that it does not mix with other liquids.

3. Regularly check the DEF level:

Truck drivers should make sure to check the DEF level at least once a week. If it is found that the DEF level is too low, it should be restored to the proper DEF level according to the need to add DEF.

4. Ensuring correct DEF filling method:

In the process of filling DEF, truck drivers should strictly abide by the filling procedures specified by the manufacturer. This includes the need to use the filler neck and nozzle or follow specific filling instructions.

5. Regularly check DEF for leaks:

If there is a strong ammonia smell, moisture or oily substance on the DEF system components, the driver should check for DEF leaks as soon as possible to avoid expensive repair costs.
